How to Duplicate Content or Redirect Pages

One of the questions I get quite frequently is this: how do I make one page of my website send someone to another page of my website? Aka. if I have a Client Services page in my About Us section, but I also have it in my Our Services section, how do I make them both go to the same place?

While it depends on what Content Management System you use and how much access/control you have over your website, the answer is, most frequently, to use a Javascript Redirect. It may sound scary, but it's actually simple. Here are a few sets of instructions:

For Atlas Content Management:

1. Log in to the Content Management System
2. Select the Pages button and find the page you want to redirect (send to another page)
3. Enter the editor and select the < > button at the bottom left of your screen. This will take you to the page's HTML (which, on a new page, should be blank)
4. Paste this code:

5. Replace http://google.com with the friendly URL of the page you want to direct to
6. Make sure to keep the quotation marks outside your URL in tact. They're important
7. Save

In Wordpress:

1. Log in to the Content Management System
2. Select the Pages button and find the page you want to redirect (send to another page)
3. Click on the page and select the HTML tab in the editor. This will take you to the page's HTML (which, on a new page, should be blank)
4. Paste this code:

5. Replace http://google.com with the friendly URL of the page you want to direct to
6. Make sure to keep the quotation marks outside your URL in tact. They're important
7. Save

In Joomla:

1. Log in to the Content Management System
2. Select the Article Manager and find the page you want to redirect (send to another page)
3. Enter the editor and select the HTML screen (this will be found with a different button, depending on what. This will take you to the page's HTML (which, on a new page, should be blank)
4. Paste this code:

5. Replace http://google.com with the friendly URL of the page you want to direct to
6. Make sure to keep the quotation marks outside your URL in tact. They're important
7. Save
