Part II: The Benefits of Blog

Before we jump into some specific blog ideas, let's talk about the burning question:


  1. Search engines love it. If you build a beautiful, tool-rich website that addresses every one of your prospects' needs, but no one ever comes to that website, is it still a success?We think the answer is no. That the whole goal of your website is to get prospects there and engage them. And the first step of this is getting your website to rank high on search engines.

    This is one of the most important reasons to blog. And it's also the reason that your blog needs to be strategic. Because search engines love blogs.

    Why do search engines love blogs? You may ask. Because their content is fresh and recent,they can be full of key phrases that your prospects are searching for and they (when used well) often provide specific content that answers the prospects' questions. And, if you recall from our earlier discussion of search engines, their goal is to provide content that the user will be happy with and will answer their questions.

  2. It encourages frequent visits. Blogs, by their very nature, are ever-changing and ever-offering new content. What's the best way to bring people back to your site? New content. What's an easy way to provide new content on a regular basis? Blogging.
  3. It can address a specific type of prospect, industry or audience. Blogging allows you to drill down from the broader goals of your website and create an area that provides specific information for an important audience. For example: providing news specific to local business (addressing a local business audience), providing industry news, trends and information (addressing an industry-specific audience) or providing information on local events, job listings and networking opportunities (thus addressing a workforce audience).
