Another rather lengthy video on search engine ranking and how it relates to blogs, this has some great tips for both bloggers and those who are trying to rank high in Google with their static websites. If you have 45 minutes and understand the basics of SEO, this is a great video resource.
A few key points from the following video:
- Quality is more important than quantity. Quality content. Quality sites that link to your site/blog. Etc. Always think quality and then quantity. This is how you become reputable and get your site/blog to rise up the Google search list.
- But quantity still matters. And it does affect your quality. Because the more you write, the better you'll get. The more you research, the more you'll know. The more you teach, the more you will understand. The more you write, the more relevant content you have, the higher you will rank. So adding new content consistently is good for you, good for your users AND good for Google.
- Think about what your users will search for. If someone is trying to find search engine marketing, they might search for search engine marketing, marketing for search engines, rank higher in Google, Google rankings, help my Google ranking, search engine tips, etc. So, if you want to show up when someone is searching for this term, you need to think about all the different things that people might be typing into Google. Research and use those words. Write about what people are searching for. And write often.
